The basic requirements of applicants include:

• Must be able to pay the application fee of N 3,000
• Must be between the ages of 18 and 40 
• Must be able to drive and have a valid driver's license
• Must have a valid passport 
• Must pass Medical and Physical screening 
• An overall soundness of mind and body
• The ability to understand and respect the culture and religion of the desert region
• The ability to adapt to unpredictable situations, adversity and change
• The ability to withstand extreme temperatures, (150°F to 0°F )
• Willingness to follow instructions, obey rules and stay within confined boundaries
• Ability to endure rigorous physical challenges  
• Knowledge of other languages and possession of other extraneous skills or abilities will be an added advantage
